911 Universal Emergency Telephone Number

Emergencies: 9-1-1. Dispatchers will ask questions to determine which emergency services are needed (police, fire, or ambulance). The need must be immediate, because someone's health, safety, or property is in jeopardy or a crime is in progress. Misdialed 9-1-1 calls Don't hang up. Explain what happened. The dispatcher is obligated to determine whether there is a real emergency and police will be dispatched to check the address associated with the caller's phone number.
